After finally taking the plunge and starting to release videos to my Youtube channel, I am looking back at my first 10 uploads and reflecting on some lessons learnt. Hopefully these will help guide my next 10 uploads and maybe yours as well.

Why not to trust your favourite data import functions

As a data scientist, one of the last things I ever worry about or even think about is if the method of importing my data into my Jupyter Notebook or RStudio session is ok or not. I started a YouTube channel with 0 subscribers and 0 views. I was extremely hesitant to publish anything because of the fear of judgement for the underwhelming subscriber count, like having a birth party and no one turns up except for one or two people … awkward.

But once I got over that initial fear, I pressed publish and watched the views and subscribers come in. The concept of my channel, or at least my first series of videos, is that I make high quality espresso in extreme locations. See here the video that sparked this whole idea.
